Under the Government’s latest ECO Scheme, qualifying home owners and private tenants can have a wide range of heating and insulation measures installed in their home, either free of charge, or heavily subsidised. Find out if you may be able to get free or cheaper insulation to reduce your home’s energy bills

What is the Government ECO Scheme ?

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a UK Government energy efficiency scheme to help reduce carbon emissions and tackle fuel poverty. Energy companies are obliged to fund energy efficiency measures for those who can least afford the upfront costs. *Grant funding is subject to survey and individual criteria.

We provide energy efficiency measures under two grant schemes – ECO4, and ECO Flex.

Property Qualifying Criteria

Energy efficiency band D-G homes are eligible for ECO4. For social housing and private rented accommodation, ECO4 will support the least efficient homes in bands E-G only

Financial Criteria (Route 1)

Households in receipt of means tested benefits will be eligible. Anyone else not in receipt of benefits can still qualify through ECO Flex if their local authority has the scheme available and either your combined annual household income is below £31,000 (before tax). Benefits include: Child Tax Credit, Pension Credit Guarantee, Universal Credit, Pension Savings Credit, Housing Benefit, Working Tax Credit, Income support, Employment Support Allowance and Job Seekers Allowance.

Health Criteria (Route 3)

If you do not qualify under Route 1, you can qualify if you have a long standing health issue under one of the following umbrella conditions; a cardiovascular conditions, respiratory disease, limited mobility, or Immunosuppression. If you would like to ask us if your local authority has flex available or anything regarding your medical condition, please contact us to assist your application.

What is the Great British Insulation Scheme ?

The Great British Insulation Scheme, formally ECO+ is a new ECO energy efficiency scheme focused on insulation measures with an element of heating controls.

The scheme broadens the eligibility pool beyond the low-income and vulnerable households that ECO4 prioritises, to millions of others who do not currently benefit from government support to upgrade their homes.

The scheme will run until 2026 alongside and complementing ECO4. DESNZ estimate that GBIS will make around 300,000 home more energy efficient, primarily through the installation of insulation measures such as cavity wall insulation.
